According to CityKidz' website, one in five Canadian children are growing up in poverty. In some neighbourhoods, the number is 3 in 4. Children make up 40% of food bank users, and 1 in 7 people using shelters in Canada is a child. Over 1200 children in Hamilton go hungry every weekend. CityKidz seeks to transform lives and end child poverty, one child at a time. Located in Hamilton, Ottawa, and Regina, CityKidz provides programs to meet not only the physical needs of children living in poverty but their emotional, spiritual and psychological needs.
