My Story…
Hello Fam & Friends!
As many of you may know, I was a student participant in JCYC College Access Programs during High School and was fortunate enough to be a scholarship recipient all my college years. Because I benefited so much from the support and scholarship that JCYC provided, I knew I wanted to become a JCYC staff member and give back to my community. During college, I became a Part-time High School Educational Advisor at Thurgood Marshall, then a Full-time Advisor at Balboa High School. Today, I am a Program Director, and I thank JCYC for the opportunities they provide and their continued commitment to their participants and staff. My passion for education runs deep, and that's why I have committed many years to serving my community. Please donate (only if you can) to support scholarships for low-income, first-generation college students! If you'd like to run, register here!
Proceeds from the SF Aloha Run for Peace will be donated to:
1. Refugee & Immigrant Transitions - provides free education, family engagement, and community leadership for students seeking refuge from war, violence, persecution, or economic duress.
2. The Pōpolo Project - a Hawai‘i-based nonprofit organization that redefines what it means to be Black in Hawai‘i and in the world.
3. JCYC Scholarship Programs - we have three different scholarships that our students can apply for. The general scholarship, 529 Scholarship, and the Thomatra Scott Scholarship. All seek to support our students as they prepare for higher education.
Thanks, Fam & Friends! Much love
