My Story…
I am raising money for the Canadian Clubfoot Support Society this June to benefit kids like Magnus, my clubfoot cutie.

Magnus had a a very rocky start to his treatment, which I had believed should be easy and smooth.
He was treated by someone who wasn't in an established clubfoot clinic with a trained and experienced team. This lead to Magnus suffering mid-foot breaks that were identified by me, the parent, not the surgeon. Even after I had noticed something going wrong and brought it to the practitioners attention, I was told that everything was fine and he would continue on with the treatment. When the treatment was complete, it was obvious that there was something severely wrong and Magnus would not stop crying in pain.
At that point, I demanded a referral to a different experienced surgeon who confirmed that Magnus's foot was in fact mistreated. Thankfully, our new practitioner was able to reverse what was done and Magnus is doing well now in his braces and we watch diligently to make sure he doesn't relapse.

Sadly, this happens all too often in Canada, never mind the developing countries where many children aren't treated at all.

Since this incidence, I founded the Canadian Clubfoot Support Society, a Registered Charity, along side many volunteers, extraordinary parents and Dr Pirani, Magnus's foot saver, and world renowned Clubfoot Advocate and Pediatric Surgeon. It is our mission to ensure that all children have access to experienced Ponseti providers and hope to help set up guidelines for practice.
We are making our goal to walk/bike/run as a family for 50kms in the month of June.
