My Story…
My mom was diagnosed with Vaginal Cancer 9-16-2009, received Chemo and radiation and passed away 1-28-2010. She always had regular paps and her pap in 2008 was normal. She had postponed her pap in 2009She normally had them done her birthday month which is July) due to having foot surgery and an infection in that foot. She though she got a yeast infection due to the antibiotics for said foot infection and tried Monistat. When she inserted, blood gushed out. She waited a few days and tried it again with the same results. That is when she went to the doctor for a yeast infection only to have a biopsy and 2 days later a cancer diagnosis. She had a 8cm mass between the rectal and vaginal wall.
I now work in a Breast Cancer clinic (OB ONC is to close and too hard for me) where I'm able to care for and support women going through similar experiences as my mom.
