Help Hana raise money

Hello! I am participating in a fundraising event called Walk for Wendake, taking place between October 3rd and October 10th, during which I plan to walk at least 5km (with my dog I will definitely walk more).

I am participating in this event because I had the honour of joining the Camp Wendake Care Team this year, and got to witness the amazing work they do. I am so proud to be part of the Wendake Family and helping out to raise money to fund such an important organization.

For those needing some more information on the camp:

Camp Wendake is a one-week retreat camp located just outside of Bayfield, for children and adults living with HIV/AIDS and their primary care givers. This camp gives those infected and affected by this disease a chance to be in a supportive environment with peers facing similar challenges in their daily lives. Camp Wendake promotes spiritual healing, physical well-being, and a chance for social interaction, which many people living with HIV/AIDS do not otherwise have. The camp welcomes approximately 80 campers and another 40 volunteers from across Ontario. Operational costs for the weeklong retreat are approximately $45,000, covering everything from meals to transportation. We rely on private and corporate donations to cover all these costs as we have no government funding.

Camp Wendake celebrated its milestone 25th camp, in 2022...and over these 25 years has provided more than 2000 participants with an opportunity to be in “a place set apart”. Camp Wendake is staffed and governed entirely by community volunteers.
