My Story…
Getting a cancer diagnosis was the scariest moment of my life. Suddenly you learn that your body has been attacking itself. You can't rely on your immune system anymore because your immune system is trying to kill you. You'll be going through a bunch of terrible treatment that will break your body down to kill off the bad cells. This treatment is gonna suck. It's intense, it makes you terribly sick, awfully dehydrated and wrecks your appetite, you spend a lot of time in the hospital hooked up to IVs pumping a descendant of mustard gas into your body. Mustard gas! In an age of rocket ships that can land themselves, electric cars, video taps with relatives across the planet were still using MUSTARD GAS to fight cancer!
One thing that gave me hope and kept me calm during treatment was knowing this wasn't my only shot. My particular lymphoma has a set of secondary line treatments that have shown success should the initial attempt at chemotherapy not get the job done, or should it come back for a second round.
More folks need hope like that, to ease their worry in the scariest moments of their lives. That's why I want to raise money to further research for new cures.
