Help Elizabeth raise money

For participating in 2023 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

Friends,

This year, I am running the Pittsburgh full marathon to raise money for the ALS Association of Western PA. This cause is very important to our family, because Brad’s Uncle Brett is currently living with ALS and we have seen firsthand how devastating this diagnosis is.

Yesterday, I ran ten miles in the snow and ice as part of my training plan. It reminded me of the “Ice Bucket Challenge” that Brad and I participated in nearly 10 years ago to raise awareness for ALS; little did we know how close to home this terrible disease would hit just several years later.

Soon after his diagnosis in 2018, Uncle Brett and his wife, Aunt Jeannine, coined the motto, “Every day is a good day.” I think about their motto a lot during tough timesa hard workout, a rough day with the kids, whatever trial I’m facing—and it really is incredible how focusing on the good can totally change my perspective.

I encourage you to practice focusing on the good things about each day—the sweet thing your kid says, how lucky you are to have your spouse, the amazing taste of that first sip of coffee, how good it feels to complete a workout. We’re all running our own races, and sometimes they’re really freaking hard. So find the good in your own day and be the good in someone else’s day.

And if you are financially able, please consider donating to my fundraiser for the ALS Association of Western PA. This organization is absolutely incredible in their programming, and their mission is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
