Help Kate raise money

As cliché as it is I can remember being a little girl and watching my mother get ready for an evening out.  I can remember the smell of her make-up.  I can remember watching her put on control top panty hose and thinking "that looks miserable."  Unlike the 15 minutes it takes me to get ready for anything, it took my mother at least an hour to go through her routine.  I always knew she was ready when I would hear the high heels walking across the foyer's floor.  I always dreaded my mother going out.  I had terrible anxiety as a child and I was always terrified that something would happen.  A car accident, a shooting, or her just flat out not coming home.  

Years later I stood in my kitchen on the phone with the Neurologist office - this would turn into a normal part of my week - begging for them release the PET Scan results as it was a Friday and I just couldn't stand not knowing anymore.   Diagnosis:  Early Onset Alzheimer's.  Not only was mom going to slowly forget who I was but because her body was healthy she was going to die in a slow, progressive, terrible way.  The woman who prided herself on dignity was going to die without any.  I will spare everyone the awful specifics that spanned the next 8 years.  

I have failed at completing this race several times.  Mostly due to my own lack of accountability and perseverance.  This year I want to try something different.  I want to know that every step I take will contribute to the possibility that even one person will not have to endure the absolute torture that is Alzheimer's.  Please consider making a donation to this amazing organization.  You have no idea how much it could help.
