My Story…
I started running in 2019 after ending my career as a ballet dancer. It took a while for me to get serious about it, but over the past year, I've really grown to enjoy the physical and mental challenge...it is similar to ballet! This will be my first ever marathon, and I am equally terrified and excited!
While beginning to run, I started school at CCAC to become a physical therapist assistant. I always enjoyed working and being with kids, but after a pediatric clinical assignment last semester, I know it's what I'm meant to do! I chose to run for Team Children's because I wanted to raise money for a cause and patient population that is important to me. If I can make a small difference in a child and their family's life, it is definitely worth it!

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2023 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
