Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
After taking a two year break, I'm back to running with Team JDRF. And while I've taken a break from the marathon, Addi never gets to take a break from diabetes. The technology she uses to manage diabetes has gotten better since she was diagnosed nine years ago, but it still really sucks. She still cannot eat anything without measuring it and calculating the carbs then input it into the pdm that controls her insulin pump. If (well, when) she forgets to do this, then her blood sugars are sky high for hours while we try to bring them down. These past few months, she has been on multiple teams (middle school volleyball, club volleyball and lacrosse and is now switching out volleyball for track) and we are constantly monitoring her levels and either having her sit out when she's too low, or getting her insulin when she's running too high. All of it is a huge burden on her and a huge worry to Art and I. But seeing how committed she is to being on multiple teams, regardless of having diabetes, has made me commit again to running for Team JDRF. So please consider donating to my team to help find a cure for diabetes.
Description
Welcome to my personal Team JDRF to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I have joined Team JDRF to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Please support me and donate to my fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible today?
Thank you for your support!
