My Story…
This April, I graduate from Pitt's Bachelor in Social Work program having had the opportunity to work intimately with the Pittsburgh community through 600 hours of service at the Children's Hospital. In order to complete my supervision hours and build my skillset in clinical social work, I had the opportunity to work with patients and families to obtain resources that helped reduce barriers to care and upward mobility. Without Children's partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, I would not have been able to provide the ongoing support needed to aid the nearly 19.4% of Pittsburgh families that struggle with food insecurity. Not only have families been amazed by the ways in which GPCFB goes above and beyond to provide accommodations often hard to come by (such as food delivery, fresh produce, and networking), they have been supported in caring for their children and themselves in ways that seemed impossible before their referral. I wholeheartedly believe in the work that GPCFB does to serve 11 Western Pennsylvania counties and know that they are deserving of support in their mission to end hunger in our area. With your support, let's give back to our clients, our local families, our community.
