My Story…
Please help me raise $500 by donating to my selected charity for the
2023 Pittsburgh Marathon-5K on Saturday, May 6th:
UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
This year, I made a last-minute decision to walk/run the UPMC Health Plan/UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K Run and as always, I joined TEAM CHILDREN'S to raise funds for the many needs of patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP).
It's been well over a year since I've been able to run so I'll be walking with a bit of slow running; this will be difficult for me this year, but I feel that my struggles are never as difficult as other people's struggles, especially those of children.
Children and their family’s needs are what drives me to participate in charitable events, such as the Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend. I want to give back to the community, especially to CHP for providing life-saving care to my son in his younger years and for support and education for me and my husband.
As part of Team Children's, my participation in the Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend will support the only fund-raising arm for CHP which provides research, treatment, support, cures and more. I hope you can help me reach my goal by donating via this fundraising page; if not, please keep me in your thoughts as I restart another comeback starting with this 5K!

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2023 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
