Help Jamie raise money

For participating in 2023 Ryder Hesjedal's Tour de Victoria presented by Scotiabank

My Story…

The season is upon me! Every year I help organize and ride in the Tour De Victoria to raise funds and awareness for Opportunity International. Every year I am reminded of our global neighbour's and how they are so hard working, passionate and people just like us, except without the opportunity we have loving in our ZIP code. I am both inspired by our clients and challenged to find ways to be part of global poverty alleviation. Starting a business is an amazing tool for people to create their own income so that can support their own family. Women are pre dominantly our clients, and they also happen to be the people group that is changing the world by supporting their families. I want and will continue to be a support for those women around the world. Please join me this year in either joining our team and raising money, or donating to my campaign.

Description

Opportunity International Canada designs, delivers, and scales innovative solutions to transform the lives of those living in poverty through sustainable livelihoods and education. Made up of a global network of change-making organizations, Opportunity International strives towards a world where everyone is afforded equal opportunity to live a life with dignity and purpose. It was founded with the belief that the marketplace can be used as a channel and means of economic vitality for poor communities. This belief continues to drive strategic and sustainable programs that adapt to the needs of our clients especially now as they face the challenges of rebuilding their businesses while still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For too many families living in poverty, this pandemic has not only brought with it sickness, but also hunger and homelessness. Lockdowns and increased health regulations mean many have been unable to work or run the small businesses they rely on for their daily income. In addition, many children have been unable to go to school, interrupting their access to education. These ongoing impacts of the pandemic threaten to drastically set back strides towards ending poverty.

Opportunity International Canada and its Implementing Partners are remaining on the frontlines by delivering strategic and sustainable programs to help families survive the challenges today so that they can thrive tomorrow.
