My daughter Nancy and I are once again running the sporting life 10K to raise money for Campfire circle (formerly camp Ooch) in memory of a her friend Cassidy
Cassidy died 8 years ago at the age of 14 due to cancer. Cassidy was first diagnosed with cancer at the age of 7. As a child she had the wonderful opportunity to attend Camp Ooch which quickly became one of her favourite places.
Every child deserves the chance to be able to go to camp, especially children with cancer. They deserve the opportunity to spend time at camp, whether it be at day camp downtown, virtual camp or a week at camp in Muskoka. With the Interuptions of COVID-19 many children missed out on the opportunity to go to camp. Every child deserves the opportunity to laugh, shout, dream and play. They deserve the chance to be a kid. Please help support me in giving more children the opportunity to go to camp just like Cassidy was able to!

Help bring joy and laughter to kids affected by cancer or serious illness
A diagnosis of childhood cancer or serious illness changes life in an instant. For kids and families, their schedule suddenly revolves around medical appointments and hospital stays, with long absences from school. There is no time for simple joys like friendships, birthday parties or sport activities.
Campfire Circle is passionate about helping kids to just be kids, once again. By supporting their in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs, you will help bring joy and laughter to kids and families during their most challenging times, at no cost to them.
As part of the Campfire Circle community, you are helping to create opportunities year-round for kids to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall wellbeing.
