Help Phong raise money

For participating in 2023 Sporting Life 10K

My Story

A childhood cancer diagnosis can be devastating and change life in an instant for the child and the family.
Campfire Circle is a place operated by donors like yourself for children who are living with cancer.
In August 2019, Justin signed up for the first time to attend a one-week overnight camp in Muskoka where he can share and open up and experience with friends who are also having to live each day as if it were their last. The difference between life and death for the children here is very fragile. After that experience, Justin's wish was to be able to participate every year. It's also here that Justin found his passion for playing music, hence the name DJ Justy.
From a child who is living with brain cancer suffering from pains and fears, this camp organization was where he finds joy. That's also why our family started to do this race every year to raise funds. Because all children that come here have cancer and it requires doctors and nurses and the necessary equipment when needed, the cost of each child is very high.
As runners participating in this charitable cause, it is the least we can do to help kids like Justin attend these camps for free.
Unfortunately, this is going to be another year for our family to join the race without Justin, because brain cancer has taken away his beautiful young life on January 28, 2022. But I know Justin still wishes that other children who are living with cancer to still  have an opportunity to enjoy themselves like every normal child without having to worry about affordability. And that's why our family will participate on May 14 and race this race in memory and in honour of Justin aka (DJ Justy)
We would like to thank you each and everyone for your great generosity. Your contributions and support help further create safe spaces for kids to be kids, so families can be families, at no cost to them. Again, thank you.

Description

Help bring joy and laughter to kids affected by cancer or serious illness

A diagnosis of childhood cancer or serious illness changes life in an instant. For kids and families, their schedule suddenly revolves around medical appointments and hospital stays, with long absences from school. There is no time for simple joys like friendships, birthday parties or sport activities.

Campfire Circle is passionate about helping kids to just be kids, once again. By supporting their in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs, you will help bring joy and laughter to kids and families during their most challenging times, at no cost to them.

As part of the Campfire Circle community, you are helping to create opportunities year-round for kids to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall wellbeing.

More than a thousand kids were diagnosed with cancer during the pandemic—the need is greater now more than ever. Your support ensures that Campfire Circle’s critical camp-inspired programs will reach even more kids and families across Ontario. Your gift makes life-changing experiences possible.

Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal.
