My Story

So many of you already know our family's cancer journey, but for those unfamiliar here is a little recap.

On December 4th 2020 Scarlett was diagnosed with liver cancer.

Receiving that diagnosis would be hard enough under normal circumstances, but it was incredibly hard especially during a pandemic. The opportunities for Scarlett to have a buddy to play with, to craft, to laugh, to be distracted from the hardships she would endure, were nearly impossible during our many lock downs.

We are so grateful to have Campfire Circle (formerly Camp Ooch) offer Scarlett such a wonderful distraction to look forward to, during a time that presented with many challenges. From the Oochigeas always ready and willing to make slime for the 6th time, to playing the ukulele to the frozen soundtrack for the 100th time, it was just what Scarlett needed. S
o many of you have shown our family such kindness and generosity during Scarlett's treatment, and to you we are forever grateful.

Our Brave, Energetic, Audacious, Resilient, Scarlett has asked that our family participates in, what will be our second year of the 10K run, jog, walk to raise funds for the Camp that continues to make her smile when at Sick Kids for routine visits, along so many other children and helps make memories, even when things are tough.

Please, if you can offer a monetary donation to this cause, we personally know how important it is to be able to give these children hopeful and good fun, during such trying times.

Thank you, in advanced for taking the time to read our story.

Description

Help bring joy and laughter to kids affected by cancer or serious illness

A diagnosis of childhood cancer or serious illness changes life in an instant. For kids and families, their schedule suddenly revolves around medical appointments and hospital stays, with long absences from school. There is no time for simple joys like friendships, birthday parties or sport activities.

Campfire Circle is passionate about helping kids to just be kids, once again. By supporting their in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs, you will help bring joy and laughter to kids and families during their most challenging times, at no cost to them.

As part of the Campfire Circle community, you are helping to create opportunities year-round for kids to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall wellbeing.

More than a thousand kids were diagnosed with cancer during the pandemic—the need is greater now more than ever. Your support ensures that Campfire Circle’s critical camp-inspired programs will reach even more kids and families across Ontario. Your gift makes life-changing experiences possible.

Thank you for helping to build a world where children thrive and families heal.
