Why am I supporting Foothills Academy Society?
Hey Everyone,
It's your friend Sean Horton here. I know a lot of people know me as Mr. Horton, but my first name is Sean, but we pronounce it just like Shawn.
I don't know if I have ever been this psyched up for the marathon before! I am even more excited than the year I had to get my legs waxed in front of the entire school. Oh memories... Anyway, we are going to have the best time this year at the marathon and after party. I can't wait to celebrate with you all.
I have been at Foothills Academy Society longer than almost anyone, which is the coolest thing. I started out as a teacher at Foothills, but almost 10 years ago I became a Vice Principal. Being a Vice Principal is really amazing because I have seen students go from grade 3 all the way through to graduation. It is so great to see everyone grow up and become these cool teens and adults. My favourite part is when our students become adults and they come back to visit and tell us what they have been up to. Some of my old students have their own kids now, which is pretty neat. I think I have the best job in the world.
It will be so great to celebrate all of our accomplishments together, no matter who wins. I would love to have the biggest team, with the most people on it, as a big victory for Team Horton!
Description
We are Striding For Success with Foothills Academy Society! This organization helps thousands of children, youth and their families every year who have Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD with wrap around-services for literacy, psychology, camps, recreation, community education and school programs.
There are three teams competing for not just to win the race, but to out fundraise each other to support building new program areas at Foothills Academy Society.
