My Story…
“Join me in supporting Calgary literacy!”
Hello, my name is Deva Cannon.
Several years ago, I was a student at Bow Valley College. My ADHD felt completely unmanageable to the point where I finally followed through on a professional recommendation to contact with the CanLearn Society.
Their mission: "to help individuals and families who are struggling with learning challenges" became true for me when I made a few simple and necessary changes. At school, at home, and in life my anxiety began to settle.
Finally my desire to give back became a reality this year when I connected with Heather Baker. After joining her team, I became a participate in the 59th year of RunCalgary. My Mom, bless her heart; helped me chose The Goodlife Fitness walk/run 5km Marathon. Together we mapped out the road with clear milestones that I needed to reach. Only 5 weeks away I made sure to write out a SMART goal on my calendar that I looked at daily.
Setting a goal to raise $500 for the CanLearn Society was a privilege and an honour that motivated me to keep going right to the FINISH line.
If you are able, consider making even a small donation. It can and will make a big difference.
