My Story…
I’m running my first ever 10km run this year, in support of the 1955 Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. This is Katie’s Corps, here in our community in Northeast Calgary.
The RCACC has been a profound positive influence on Katie, and on so many Canadian youth. It builds character by encouraging integrity, perseverance, courage, teamwork, loyalty and discipline. It exposes cadets to a world of opportunities and experiences, including mountaineering, caving, whitewater rafting, biking and parachuting. It encourages physical fitness, mental wellness, and inclusive community building.
As with all programs and charities, the RCACC faces the constant struggle to fund these experiences and programs beyond the minimal support received for baseline offerings. Having seen firsthand the value of the Cadets, and the positive impact it has had on our kid, I am hoping folks will support this endeavour to raise funds for the 1955, so more and more opportunities can be offered to inspire leadership and confidence in our community and in our world!
