Help Elena raise money

For participating in Servus Calgary Marathon 2023

My Story…

Without any training and five days until this 50k marathon in Calgary Alberta, I had no hopes of making records, but crossing the line was the goal. I impulsively decided to sign myself up for the death sentence— many would say, but in my eyes; this race was my outlet to freedom & sanity. Because One man’s perception of insanity is another man’s perception of sanity.

This marathon is the longest road race to currently exist and in my sane mind, it was the right thing to do. It gave me the chance, opportunity, & possibility to be sane, in a world that many would perceive as insane. But additionally, it allowed me the chance to represent.

Represent those who can not represent themselves due to physical and/or mental restrictions, which, are an enormous influence on the individuals’ state of mind; soul; and being. And because of these limitations, these factors evidently impact one's contribution to their life course, additionally, affecting ones around that individual due to the multiple effects of that individual's condition.

We must collectively help in a selfless manner to move society toward a positive direction, with positive manners, for future prosperity because that is the opportunity humanity deserves.

Everyone deserves a chance, and in my eyes, If the beating of a heart exists within a complex body… WE MUST SAVE ALL even if their minds don’t represent the social norms of normality(s), because a soul still resigns within that human body. And in my perspective, mind, and Heart–

We must represent those that are unable to bring better days ahead solely because we are capable individuals, and especially because we are able. Able to create possibilities, chance, and opportunity to surpass benchmarks that the universe believes to be impossible. But it all starts with one's desire & ambition to selflessly help, to restore humanity, to move past all the irrationalities that are existing in this world of life (individually and/or collectively), for the better condition of the world for generations to come.

My Name is Elena Dang and I am a twin to a lovely sister who has cerebral palsy!

Thank you for joining my journey of running 42.2km with my eye closed to represent the tribulations of life that are not visible to the human eye whether mental or physical, during a time of the universal struggle of covid; with additional interplay/overlap of our own individual struggle that may not be visible to others.

The world is a better place to be in with everyone in it. Thank you for fighting your battle to be in this universe with everyone, from the bottom of my heart, keep fighting.

Thank you to the medic who followed me all the way through my journey to the finish line; the individual who offered me their salt tablets when I was out; the individual who carried me into the river during my calve spasm(rip to my headphones and phone ahah); and the community & volunteers. It takes a village to take care of others.

Additionally, thank you to the doctors who took time out of their day to support us through our journey to the finish line, and JING WO for providing me with the strength to start the race and finish.

Thank you for being a part of my team, without your hands, I wouldn't have been able to cross the finish line and represent my twin who has never walked a day in her life. Thank you for making something that seem impossible, possible.

We rely on one another in times of need to prosper against the current of life.

until the next runners high, I'll see you again.
