Welcome to my fundraising page!  I work as a psychiatrist at the Ottawa Hospital and am happy to be able to participate again in fundraising for mental health research at the Ottawa Hospital. 

Mental Health Research is an important service to our local and global community that seeks to understand and ameliorate the lives of individuals who have been impacted by mental illness.  The vision for the research awards funded by money raised from this initiative is "To foster and encourage mental health research initiatives at the Ottawa Hospital, with a primary focus on patient-centered, patient-driven approaches to care."  

This year I walk in memory and in honour of the late Alan Thibeau who had played an important role in shaping the selection criteria for these research awards.  Alan had previously written:  “So many of us have been touched, either directly or indirectly by mental illness. Mental health research seeks to solve this problem through public awareness and effective treatment protocols. . .  Impressive research studies, such as those submitted to our committee, give me great hope for the future of mental health care in Canada.”

I, too, remain hopeful for the future of mental health research and care for patients in Canada.  Thank you for your generosity in supporting this important cause.
