My Story…
My mom is a survivor of domestic violence and was precariously housed when my sister and I were very young. She was fortunate enough to have access to housing through various women's shelters during that period. The access to safe housing and childcare allowed her to start a career, save for a down payment, and eventually purchase a home for the three of us.
Organizations like the YWCA gave my mom shelter, community, hope, and confidence to start again.
