For participating in 2023 Stanford Medicine My Heart Counts 5K and Kids Fun Run

My Story…

In 2019, after nearly 15 years of symptoms, I was diagnosed at Stanford with multifocal atrial tachycardia and atrial fibrillation (AFib). While AFib is quite common in older adults, it’s pretty rare to be diagnosed in my age group. I’m lucky to be cared for by a team who is quite knowledgeable about caring for young people with AFib. They have helped me navigate various procedures and medication changes to best help manage my condition. I don’t know what the future holds, but they always encourage me to keep my my crazy active lifestyle despite frequent interruptions by arrhythmias.

I’m running (or let’s be real, walking) this year in support of the excellent work my team does, and in hopes of furthering research on AFib in young people so that folks like me will face fewer unknowns in the future.
