My Story…
I first came to learn about Homeboy Industries when I read Father Greg's book, Tattoos on the Heart in 2011, and I have been committed to this organization ever since!
I was incredibly moved by his book, and highly recommend reading it to understand more--it will have you laughing and/or crying on every page. As Father Boyle says, it's not about "how do I reach them?" it's "can I be reached?" Can I be moved to take action?
And so each year since 2013 I've participated in Homeboy's annual 5K with my family.
The transformations that occur at Homeboy are truly a site to behold. Many formerly incarcerated men and women were born into gang life as it has been passed on from generation to generation. So Homeboy Industries is not offering folks hope and a 2nd chance at life, but more like hope and a !st chance at life.
Thank you for considering this incredible organization.
