My Story…
I’m running in memory of Benny, the son of my friends Kristen and Josh.
Our team signed up for this run intending it to be a celebration of Benny’s release from Sick Kids, where he was born with heart complications and spent all 10 months of his life 💕 In that time, Benny and his parents gained another family. The doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers continued to go above and beyond to show Benny how loved he was.
Benny passed on October 1st, 2023. He was an extremely happy, resilient, determined little boy who overcame multiple obstacles during his time on earth (including several heart surgeries). His strong personality shines through in every picture of him and every story about him.
When we run - from 5k to marathon distance - I and the rest of Team Benny will be remembering him and the obstacles he overcame.
