My Story…
Most of you know I work for Autism Ontario. You may not know that I have been connected with Autism Ontario for over 20 years! I started by coordinating a local summer camp in our area and then, in 2003, worked as a Regional Resource Support Person. My current job is called “youth transition specialist.’ My focus is helping families all across the province to navigate the transition from youth to adult services. For many families this transition is not what they expect. The world of adult services is vastly different than the world of children’s services. Knowing ahead of time what to expect, when and how to submit applications, where to find resources and supports helps autistic youth to make the journey into adulthood with a bit less stress and unexpected surprises.
Autism Ontario also provides events in regions across Ontario including here in Eastern Ontario (East Region). We have webinars and resources across the life span from child through to adulthood. And Autism Ontario is celebrating FIFTY YEARS of supporting autistic children, youth, adults and their families in the province.
I will be doing the virtual 5K for this race. Please consider sponsoring me, or really, sponsoring information and support for autistic people across the province. Even $1 a KM is good (though $10 /KM is even better LOL).
Thank you so much for considering supporting Autism Ontario through my run (walk). Sam and Micah (my race partners) thank you too.
