My Story…
On October 15, I will be running 5K in the TCS Charity Challenge to raise funds for Fanconi Canada, a grassroots charity supporting medical research into understanding and treating Fanconi anemia - an inherited disease that can affect all systems of the body and causes bone marrow failure, leukemia and solid tumor cancers.
I am running in memory of the too many Canadian children and young adults, including my son Aaron, whose lives were cut short by FA. There is no cure for FA and no effective treatment for its associated cancers.
I am asking for your help to continue Fanconi Canada's important work. Your tax-deductible donation will help advance the search for better treatments for FA. Please give generously - every dollar counts.
Thank you for your kind support.
Description
Donate to help [participant] raise funds for Fanconi Canada to advance research in Canada into effective treatments for Fanconi anemia and related cancers.
Fanconi Canada has committed over $400,000 to support the work of the BC Cancer Agency as part of the Fanconi Anemia Cancer Consortium (FACC), a collaborative partnership between the FA community and a network of clinicians and physician scientists who have expertise in the diagnosis and management of FA cancers and FA cancer research.
Fanconi Canada also co-sponsored the 2023 Scientific Symposium in Vancouver in September. The Symposium focusses on five key areas relevant to FA research: gene therapy, bone marrow failure, DNA repair, manifestations of FA that affect quality of life, and cancer.
