My Story…
Just over 1 year ago I was diagnosed with a stage 2 Astrocytoma. 1 month later I underwent my first craniotomy that was followed by 2 more due to infection that lead to 2 PICC lines & several course of IV antibiotics; I eventually had my bone flap removed & will need to get a synthetic flap inserted at a later time. My brain tumour was 8cm in length and they were able to resect 5cm surgically. I then completed 6 weeks of combined radiation and chemotherapy. I am currently half way through 12 cycles of my chemotherapy. I have lost parts of myself through this, especially what feels like my youth, but I have also gained so much. I want to complete this run for myself and the people I love that have struggled through this alongside me. "There is no dishonour in losing the race, there's only dishonour in not racing." "If the driver has the courage to create his own conditions, then rain is just rain." - Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain, 2014
