My Story…
At age 15, I started volunteering at Hospice of Northwest Ohio as a teen volunteer. From a young age I have felt passionate about service and end of life care. More recently, I went through training to be an adult volunteer for Hospice of the Western Reserve. I always knew that if I ran a marathon someday I wanted to raise money for a nonprofit, and September 30th I will be running my first marathon.
Grace House in Akron officially opened in August of 2022. They provide a loving home for indigent, homeless and abandoned individuals at the end of life. All Grace House services are free-of-charge, allowing individuals to pass peacefully without financial barriers to care. End-of-life care is so important, and this is a local organization I am proud to fundraise for to support people in need in the community I live in.
All donations go towards providing round the clock care 24/7/365 to the residents. It costs Grace House $305/day per resident to shelter, feed, and care for each resident. So, roughly, every $300 raised is one day of loving, dignified, end-of-life care.
UPDATE 8/6/2023: Thank you SO much for everyone who helped me get to my first goal of $500 for Grace House. I am blown away but the support I am receiving. I have increased my goal to $1,000.
