Mission Services of Hamilton

More than a meal, Mission Services of Hamilton is a non-profit, multi-social service agency who believes every person deserves access to healthy food, safe housing, and opportunities for tomorrow.

We accomplish this by offering professional services in a caring and dignified manner for every person who comes through our doors — without regard to faith, race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, educational status, or sexual orientation.

The community we hope to create is one that is healthy and resilient. It’s a place where everyone has access to healthy food, safe housing, and opportunities to enrich their futures and participate in the social and economic life of our neighbourhood and city.

Toward this ambitious goal, we serve more than 20,000 people each year.

Help us make our city a great place to live for everyone.

Our programs include:

  • The Good Food Centre: Our emergency food assistance program that provides 5-7 days of groceries to up to 1,800 families per month.
  • Willow’s Place/Emma’s Place: A safe space, inclusive community hub and emergency shelter, for women and non-binary individuals.
  • Addiction Services: Those struggling with addiction are able to receive necessary support from our staff at Suntrac, offering community treatment, alternative justice programs and housing support.
  • Men’s Shelter: Our Men’s Emergency Shelter at Barton St E and James St N is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, serving men-identifying people over the age of 18.
  • The 196 Youth Program: The 196 offers youth in grades 6 to 8 in our neighbourhood a healthy after school snack, a nutritious hot meal, and a homework club.
  • Inasmuch House: At Inasmuch House women and children are given a safe place to stay while they begin to rebuild their lives and return to the community after fleeing domestic violence.
  • Housing UP!: Supports individuals experiencing episodic and chronic homelessness to improve their housing status by obtaining safe, affordable, and stable housing in the community.
