Sophia and I have decided to run in memory of someone very important to us - my brother and her uncle Matthew who passed away due to rectal cancer in 2019 when he was 34 years old. He was 30 years old when he was diagnosed and had his symptoms "brushed off" for years, thinking he was too young - only for the cancer to be found at stage 4. Colorectal cancer is changing and the screening to find it is not keeping up as it is difficult to access at a young age (even with family history!) - and the Colorectal Cancer Resource and Action Network is working to change that.
