GLOW WORM TUNNEL MARATHON WEEKEND 2023
The Glow Worm Tunnel Marathon Weekend is one of the most awesome trail running weekends there is!
The terrain is exciting, challenging and you may find it hard to keep the smile from your face.
The Glow Worm Tunnel Marathon Weekend has been ran 10 out of 11 years since 2012. The only time it was cancelled was 2020 due to the COVID pandemic and bushfire damage. We had big plans for 2023 but the Wolgan Road landslip and the closure of access to the Wolgan Valley put those on hold! We have had our challenges in 2023 but we are ready to go!
Due to no access to non residents and difficulties in finding a suitable event area on the Newnes Plateau we have decided to move the Event Hub and all the races to Glen Davis.
The Schedule:
Friday - 2pm until 9pm - Check in/Bib Collection opens at Glen Davis Campground 2pm for all events
Friday - 4pm - Pipeline Dash - 1km up from Glen Davis to the Log Book and 1km down.
Saturday - 6.30am - Check in opens at Glen Davis Campground for all Saturday events
Saturday - 8.00am - Marathon Start Glen Davis Campground
Saturday - 8.30am - 30km Start Glen Davis Campground
Saturday - 9.00am - Half Marathon Start Glen Davis Campground
Saturday 1pm - Glen Davis Kids Race
Saturday - 2.00pm - Pipeline 6km
Cut offs
Half Marathon - 4 hours/1pm @ Newnes, 8 hours total back to Glen Davis by 5pm
Marathon - 5 hours at 2pm @ Glow Worm Tunnel. 10 hours at Glen Davis at 6pm (headlights will be required).
6km - 4 hours - cut off is 6pm - please take headlights for you and the kids.
ITRA Ranking Qualifier
The 30km and Marathon distance that will be ITRA listed and a qualification race for the Six Foot Track and other events that need an ITRA rating.
We will keep you informed of the progress with the Wolgan Road repair, the contingency plans and any questions you may have regarding the event.

Pricing Update. The ACCC has ruled that event organizers can no longer pass on the Race Roster transaction fees that are added to the event fee and purchase of products. The event now has to factor this fee into the event fee. That is why you will see some not so common prices for the events. We hope you understand that we are not adding any more fees to the entry fee.

Glen Davis Pipeline Dash Friday Closed
This is a 1km dash up the Pipeline Track to the Log Book and a 1km return. Start/Finish at the Pipeline Track trailhead at Yarool Road.

Glen Davis 1km Kids Race Closed
The Kids Race will go from the Glen Davis Event Hub to Yarool Road around the campgrounds and back. NOTE: If the Wolgan Road is closed the contingency plans for the Kids Race will be released if needed.

Glen Davis 6km Under 18 Closed
This Race starts at the Glen Davis campground and runs along Yarool Road before heading up the Pipeline Track. At the 3km mark you turn around for the dash back to the finish at the event hub. Under 12's must run with an adult.

Glen Davis Half Marathon Saturday Closed
This race starts from the event hub at Glen Davis and climbs the Pipeline Pass Track to the Pagoda Lookout. It is then a steep descent down into the Newnes aid station and return the way you came.

Glen Davis GWTM Marathon Saturday Closed
This is the standard GWTM Marathon course but with a different start/finish location at Glen Davis. Runners start at Glen Davis Campground and run to the steep Pipeline Track up to the Pagoda Lookout. They then head down the Pipeline Track to Newnes (aid station @10km) and on to the Newnes valley Rail Trail to 4 ways and up the Old Coach Road and Pagoda Track to the Glow Worm Tunnel. A quick lap of the tunnel in and out before you reverse your steps back to Newnes (aid station @32km). You then climb back up the Pipeline Track and descend back down to the finish at Glen Davis.

Glen Davis 30km Saturday Closed
This race starts at the Glen Davis Campground and follows the steep Pipeline Pass Track up to the Pagoda Lookout. You then descend the Pipeline Track into Newnes before doing a lap of the Industrial Ruins and a short out/back to the turn around on the Newnes Rail Trail. You then head back to Newnes and climb back up the Pipeline Pass before the descent back down to Glen Davis Campground finish area.
