My Story…
Friends,
I completed Go For Broke 2023, a fundraiser ride for Lifeline who do an amazing job helping people with mental health issues and in distress. The Go For Broke initiative was started by Ed, a good friend of mine few years ago and has become a quite a success. The committee members offer their time and commitment to this cause and every dollar fundraiser goes directly to funding services by Lifeline.
This ride goes from Berowra to Broke and covers a distance of 183km with more than 2000 meters of vertical distance. On a personal note, this year was the toughest Go For broke I have done. In fact the toughest ride ever. There was a sudden hot change in the weather which meant that we are not acclimatized to riding in these conditions. This made it very hard going often testing my resolve to continue riding with temperature soaring into the mid to high 30s and a dampening head working against us. But together we supported each other and most of us finished the ride although totally exhausted and dehydrated. This has been the spirit of Go For Broke and that is why I have been doing this ride for the past 5 years.
I would be grateful for any contribution you can make towards supporting Lifeline.
P.S : The image is from 2021 GFB ride when we were facing similar sweltering conditions but followed by a welcome storm in the afternoon.
