I'm Making My Miles More Meaningful
I’ve run the Falmouth Road Race many times. This year is different. First off, I’m starting from scratch with running again this this is quite a challenge for me. My why, My mom-Deb Werner. She is the rock of our family and 5 years ago shortly after she started caring for Charlie (a newborn at the time) she was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. The past five years she’s powered through her cancer spreading numerous times. She then had to switch from chemo pills to IV chemo. After getting used to the IV chemo therapy she ended up in the hospital with a bacterial infection in one of her tumors. This has set her back and paused her chemo treatment as she recovers from that trauma. It is so hard to watch her struggle. She is such an energetic woman and right now she can’t do anything but rest in a chair (which if you know my mom, you know this is not her style!). For my mom, I’m fundraising for the American Cancer Society in hopes that a cure will be found to end this horrible disease that has taken too many amazing lives. Thank you for reading my story! Why I Support the American Cancer Society
Cancer has affected so many people I know and love that it’s inspired me to join this American Cancer Society event. Taking part in this event gives me the chance to make a difference and honor those touched by cancer by raising funds for groundbreaking research and services for people dealing with cancer. I’m also participating to inspire hope for those facing the disease and raising money for the American Cancer Society's event to help save lives from cancer. I hope you’ll consider signing up too.
