I am incredibly thrilled to once again be running the Falmouth Road Race this year as part of team New England Donor Services. As I sit and write this I realize that this will be my 10th, YES 10th Falmouth RR! I feel beyond blessed to be able to run this race each year and to be part of such an amazing community spreading the much needed awareness around organ donation.Β
As family and friends know this race holds a special place in my heart and a race that I run to honor my Daddy. My Dad was a kidney transplant recipient receiving the gift of life back in 2007. That beautiful gift gave us 13 more beautiful years with him. This will now be my 3rd Falmouth RR without him cheering me on and as each year passes it doesn't get easier looking to the sidelines knowing I won't see him in the crowd. However with that being said I strongly believe that this is one of my many purposes in life. I plan to run this race as a part of team NEDS for as long as I possibly can. I will continue to run for my Dad and to honor my Dad. He was a true inspiration to me and I am still continuously in awe of his perseverance and determination. I hope that as I continue to tackle these 7 miles each year I can make him half as proud of me as I was him. π

New England Donor Services is the not-for-profit organization serving the region for organ and tissue donation. There are currently 6,500 patients waiting for an organ transplant in New England and countless others will require tissue to heal this year. With approximately half of the population registered donor, it's critical for more people to join the Donor Registry today.
