Time flies.

I found myself slipping into the month of August before I even knew it.

But August is different. It’s a month that screams Stephanie.

Steph loved summer – nights out under the lights of Providence sipping a Grey Goose and club with lime, days spent soaking in the sun at the beach on the Cape.

Cooking squash blossoms and toasting to the good life!

It’s a month that I shared with her.

I was her shadow growing up – she was my idol as I grew older.

She taught me how to stand up for myself and do it with a sparkle!

“Hi Peach, you’re so beautiful,” a phrase she opened almost every phone call we shared.

August was the month I got to do something for her.

The Falmouth Road Race was something we talked about often – stories shared in a way only Stephanie could.

Like the year Charles walked the group in the completely opposite direction, uphill in the snow, according to Steph.

It’s amazing they even saw the race!

The Road Race is in August. Stephanie was known to take creative liberties in her storytelling.

I hold those stories close.

She doesn’t get to tell them anymore – but we do.

This year marks my fifth year running the Falmouth Road Race with the New England Lupus Foundation in Stephanie’s honor.

I’ll never stop running to raise money for lupus research and a cure.

Even if it means running in the “snow.”
