Brain aneurysms have taught me a lot; mostly, how life can change in an instant. In 2016, my sister Kate survived a brain aneurysm rupture. At that time, we were not aware of the need for family members to be screened. In 2022, tragedy struck again when my sister Meg also survived a brain aneurysm rupture., altering our family's lives once again. I'm in awe of the strength shown by both of these women despite the persistent challenges they face every day. 

With increased awareness, the remainder of our family was screened and three more family members were found to have unruptured aneurysms, all of which were successfully treated.  The Brain Aneurysm Foundation's mission is to support survivors and to help prevent ruptures by funding research and encouraging preventative scans.

We are grateful and blessed that Kate and Meg beat long odds to survive and also that a simple, 15-minute scan likely saved the lives of my mother and two of my brothers. 

As I run the streets of Falmouth on August 20, I will proudly represent my family members and the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. I truly appreciate all of your support! #KateStrong #MegStrong
