My Story
This August I am thrilled to be able to run the 2023 Falmouth Road Race for the Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to empower women to live boldly and fearlessly, and to reduce violence, objectification, and harassment. The Foundation advocates for empowerment, safety awareness, and gender equality.
As an avid runner and member of the Worcester District Attorney’s Office Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Unit, the Foundation’s mission and Vanessa’s story hits close to home for me. Each day I interact with individuals who experience situations that no one should ever go through. Whether it be going for a run, attending a party, or simply walking through your own neighborhood, women should never be in fear of harassment or violence, even though those thoughts are always present.
In a world where around 1 out of 3 women will experience sexual violence in their lifetime, I hope to raise awareness and support a cause that hopes to change that narrative.
