Help Tom raise money

For participating in The 2023 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

I will be running my first Falmouth Road Race in August for Hospitality Homes, because I truly believe in this team and everything they do to support those who travel to Boston for their healthcare needs.

I am also incredibly honored to be paired up with an amazing young man:  Wyatt Luchsinger

Please let me introduce you to Wyatt.

Wyatt, age 16, was transferred from Syracuse, NY to Boston Children’s Hospital when diagnosed with hepatoid carcinoma upon a visit to the emergency room for stomach pain. When he arrived in Boston, he suffered a massive stroke and was in the ICU. The amazing team at Boston Children’s treated his cancer while he suffered many more strokes. He was in the hospital for 110 days.

Wyatt’s mom Kadi:  Wyatt was able to leave the hospital only if we were close by due his frequent appointments and risk for strokes. We are beyond blessed that our angels on earth, Hospitality Homes, found an apartment for us in Brookline with the most amazing couple. We still can’t believe how blessed we are. One parent stayed with Wyatt and the other parent was home with our special needs son. We all got together on the weekends at the apartment. We have been in the incredible apartment for 2 months and we are forever grateful. Being so close by has saved Wyatt’s life more than once. He is now stable enough that we can come back every couple of weeks for appointments and chemo. He was even allowed to come home for the first time in 155 days for his prom and was named prom king! There are no words to describe people who out of the good of their hearts help strangers during their darkest of times. Wyatt continues to fight this battle and we wouldn’t still be in this battle without Hospitality Homes - thank you to this amazing organization and the incredible hosts for alleviating a huge stress during such a traumatic time - a home away from home!

Description

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I'm so proud to be a member of TEAM HOSPITALITY HOMES in this year's Falmouth Road Race!

Your support means the world to me and will help continue to provide housing for patients and families traveling to Boston for critical medical treatment.

With the prohibitively expensive costs of local hotels- averaging $260 per night- and the lack of sufficient hospital- sponsored housing, many patients struggle with what to do, balancing these and other out-of-pocket expenses with the already high cost of responding to a complex or chronic illness.

Your donation is fully tax-deductible, as Hospitality Homes is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
