Help Jay raise money

For participating in The 2023 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

For the second year in a row, I am fundraising for Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation & Mass General Hospital program.  Please help me support Home Base by making a donation through my page. The process is fast, easy, and secure.  I am honored to represent such a venerable program and am incredibly grateful for your support!

Last year, I broke my ankle 5 weeks prior to the race and was not able to participate. However, I raised $1,000 for Home Base!  This year, I have two goals:

  1) Exceed my 2022 fundraising effort by raising over $1,000.

  2) Beat my 2022 Falmouth Road Race clock time.

Goal #2 will be easy considering my 2022 clock time was “DNP” but I need your help in accomplishing goal #1 :)

I spent the first 27 years of my life in North Carolina until moving to Boston in July of 2021.  I have come to love the city of Boston despite the challenges that such a major life event brings.  I have been inspired by the strength of the Boston community and believe that ingraining oneself in the community is one of the most important elements of building mental health.  With my family's history in the medical community, my close ties with Mass General Brigham through my work and personal life, my desire to exemplify what my new community stands for, and my own experiences with mental health, I couldn't think of a better Program to represent than Home Base.

Moving to Boston has taught me to look outside of my own circles and recognize what others are going through outside of the bubble I often live within.  I recently attended a Red Sox baseball game during which the Veterans of the Home Base program were honored. It was a moving experience for me -- seeing those incredible people on the field sent feelings of pride, gratitude, and obligation through my entire body.  The sacrifices they made, for us, go unnoticed far too often.  Sadly, so too does the difficulty they endure even after they return home.  Like me, most of us are caught up with our own lives and responsibilities and don't have a clue that more than 100,000 veterans have lost their lives to suicide since 2001.  Home Base is committed to answering that call, helping our heroes heal, and bringing our communities here at home closer.

Please help me contribute to healing veterans and raising awareness of the mental health challenges they experience by making a donation through my page.

Don't forget to send this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating! Thank you so much for your support!!
