My Story…
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll consider a donation to the Needy Fund in support of my Falmouth Road Race run on August 20th. As many of you know, this iconic 7-mile race from Woods Hole to Falmouth has a huge charitable component - the Needy Fund is one of more than 200 non-profit teams that will enter about 3,600 runners this year, around 30% of the 12,000 registered runners. This is the 6th year for Team Needy Fund and many of you have supported me and the Needy Fund since the first year - thank you!
I was inspired to start a Needy Fund team in 2018 after a good friend and runner extended a last-minute invitation to run Falmouth when a spot opened up on the Ellie Fund Team in 2017. That first run was on the heels of a Zac Brown concert at Fenway the night before, and while I limited myself to light beer and was home by 1 AM (such discipline, ha), the run was tough going on Sunday morning, but the experience was awesome and the non-profit fundraising component was gratifying.
In my enthusiasm to share the Falmouth Road Race experience and raise money for the Needy Fund, I recruited widely to build Team Needy Fund in the first year, the team included my youngest daughter, my future daughter-in-law, friends, friends' children, friends of my children, friends of my friends' children, business associates, fellow Needy Fund board members, and neighbors. The common motivation for all these runners and those who have run since for the Needy Fund is a love of Cape Cod and desire to help Cape Codders struggling with temporary financial hardship.
The Needy Fund is here to help Cape Codders who face a temporary setback stay in their homes, stock their pantries, maintain reliable transportation to get to work, heat their homes in the winter, and afford medicines when ill. I've been involved with the Needy Fund for over 30 years because it is a smart and efficient way to put your charitable contributions to work on Cape Cod, to help Cape Codders when they need it most.
Again, thank you for your support.
Cheers,
Peter
