My Story…
Hello Everyone! This year, my mom and I will be running the Falmouth road race for Hospitality Homes. We are choosing to run for HH because we believe in their mission of matching patients and their families with medical housing for their treatment in Boston. Knowing how extraordinary and expensive medical treatment can be in Boston, it is important for families coming in that need housing to have a safe and affordable place to live while receiving medical care.
We have the pleasure of running for Cali, who spent almost 6 months at Boston Children’s Hospital. You can read her story below.
We cannot wait to raise money for this amazing organization!

There will never be enough words to express my gratitude for Hospitality Homes and all they did for my family. Late fall of 2022 my entire world flipped upside down. It was in the mist of the happiest time of my life. Happily married just getting out of the wild newborn stage of my youngest. Always outside enjoying the weather with my then 2 year old daughter and 5 month old son. I was even just starting to pick up morning shifts again at the local coffee shop to save money to celebrate my 30th birthday at Disney world with my family in January. My 2 year old daughter, Cali started acting different. She no longer wanted to play outside, she was lethargic and having accidents. I brought her to the pediatrician and was first told she was just regressing due to having a new baby brother but I knew that was wrong. She was thriving being a big sister and you could tell the wetting accidents were really upsetting her. She started having on and off fevers within the following days and we made an ER visit. Back to the pediatrician where I was given antibiotics for an “ear infection”. Cali would no longer walk and wanted to constantly be carried by the next morning her wording was different and I knew it was time to bring her back to the emergency room again. A doctor finally heard our cries and decided to do blood work and sent us to the closest pediatric hospital floor in the next state over. In Vermont is where we got the diagnosis and learned this was all from a tick. We spent 28 days in Vermont with Cali in the picu during some of that time and the rest of the time fighting with insurance to get us to Boston where we’d have more resources to learn about Cali’s brain injury and get her as much help as possible. We were quickly going through funds with no idea how long this journey would really be. When we finally got the green light to go to Boston Children’s Hospital, I jumped in the ambulance with Cali and my husband followed in the car with baby brother. We knew we were leaving nobody behind and staying together as a family even though we had no idea where they’d be resting their heads that night. This ambulance ride was one of the hardest days of my life. Not only am I in fear of what’s going to happen with my daughter, anxiety of where my husband and son will sleep that night…. I get a phone call that my grandmother switched over to comfort care. The ambulance drivers pulled over so I could say good bye and in the same stop I happened to find Hospitality Homes phone number. It sounded too good to be true but I needed a glimpse of hope and this is the moment I meet Jessica from Hospitality Homes. There were a few more hurdles to jump with Clayton now just turning 6 months and being of age to get covid vaccinated but with where and how and when….. Jessica didn’t make this feel like a hurdle at all. She made sure to find somewhere we’d all be accepted that night and for months after! We spent a total of 168 days in the hospital with my daughter. Almost 6 months. We jumped back and forth between the hospital and rehab but Hospitality Homes were there to support us however they could. In this time my son learned how to sit up, crawl and even walk. Hospitality Homes gifted him stability in a time nothing was stable in our lives. During our stay my 30th birthday hit. Hospitality homes worked with me so a couple loved ones could visit with me and they brought Disney world to me. The entire apartment decorated in Mickey & Minnie decor. It was beautiful. I could write pages on all the wonderful things this program did for us. They were truly the first glimpse of light we were gifted and I will forever be grateful for each and every one of them!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I'm so proud to be a member of TEAM HOSPITALITY HOMES in this year's Falmouth Road Race!
Your support means the world to me and will help continue to provide housing for patients and families traveling to Boston for critical medical treatment.
With the prohibitively expensive costs of local hotels- averaging $260 per night- and the lack of sufficient hospital- sponsored housing, many patients struggle with what to do, balancing these and other out-of-pocket expenses with the already high cost of responding to a complex or chronic illness.
Your donation is fully tax-deductible, as Hospitality Homes is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
