My Story…
I am back running the Falmouth Road Race and fundraising for empowerHER, an organization near and dear to my heart. I've run this race many times, but this will be my first time as a mother.
I found empowerHER a few years ago, and I immediately knew I needed to be involved with this incredible organization. empowerHER works to support young women who have lost their mothers, something I have first hand experience with. The work they're doing is incredible, and offered at no cost to the girls in the program. It's also been an opportunity for me to find a community that I could connect with in a way that lets me celebrate and honor my mother's memory, while also having support from those who understand the loss.
This year, empowerHER is expanding it's mission to support all children of parent loss. This is an incredibly exciting time for the organization, and we need your help to fulfill that mission!
Please consider donating to my fundraiser in honor of my mother, Noreen Kelley, so this organization can keep doing this important work!
Description
empowerHER® was formed in 2013 with a very specific mission—to empower, support and connect girls and young women up to age 24 who have experienced the loss of their mothers. empowerHER® is a supportive and inclusive community that offers year-round EVENTS for GIRLS that provides peer support and reminds girls they are not alone in their grief. Our MENTOR PROGRAM matches girls and young women with positive role models from the community to show “loss is survivable.”
