My Story…
For those of you who know me, "athleticism" and "physical fortitude" may not be the top characteristics you associate with me (my last running partner and I used to say that if we were running any slower, we'd actually be moving backwards). But my passion for the work of Make-A-Wish has motivated me to commit to completing my very first 10k+ race (it's actually 7 miles) in order to raise money--a minimum of $1500--for this amazing organization.
As a volunteer MAW Wish Granter and Event Support volunteer, I see the power of wishes on the lives of children and their families, and it's such an incredible honor to contribute to that experience in any way. Every time I feel challenged by my training program, I remind myself of the challenges MAW children and their families are facing, and I find perspective and determination (and sometimes, even a little more energy).
Given that each wish costs and average of $10,000, every donation, no matter how large or small, is critically important. Please help me to reach my fundraising goal so I can help Make-A-Wish to reach theirs: creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Description
Together, we create life-changing wish experiences for children with critical illnesses. Every year, approximately 500 Massachusetts and Rhode Island children are newly diagnosed with a serious illness and newly eligible for a wish. Our ultimate goal is to grant wishes for every medically eligible child in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
