My Story…
Seven years ago, our daughter Emerson died from Type 2 Gaucher's, a rare genetic illness. Two months after relocating from Seattle to Vermont, we discovered that our seemingly healthy daughter would likely not live to see two. She died in June 2016 at 16 months old.
Throughout her journey, we received tremendous support from friends, family, and medical providers, as well as the Courageous Parents Network (CPN). CPN is an online resource for families and medical providers caring for seriously ill children, offering resources based on firsthand experiences and expert guidance. They helped us feel empowered in caring for Emerson, allowing us to give her the best life possible.
I've stayed involved with CPN over the these past years in various capacities, my favorite being coordinating CPN's Falmouth Road Race team. This year I've decided to not only coordinate the team, but to also do the race! I'll be participating, along with a few other teammates, in the virtual option which takes place the week before the in-person race. I'm looking forward to completing the 7 miles in honor of families like ours. I would be grateful for any support you can offer. No amount it too small to make a difference! Thank You!
