My RMH Motivation
Annie and I are running the Falmouth Road Race for Ronald McDonald House. Annie and Lilly first came into contact with the Ronald McDonald House in Boston 15 or so years ago through some mother-daughter work together, and with Lilly now in school and hospitals right in the same neighborhood as the original Ronald McDonald House, our appreciation for the heart and care that goes into helping families navigating serious pediatric illnesses has only grown. As people who have grown up in residential communities serving young people, we believe in the power of community for health and healing. We also love to run together and believe in the good health running brings for our minds and bodies and our sense of family and community.
Description
Each year hundreds of families travel to New England from locations all over the world to give their child access to the best medical care. In doing so, they face enormous hurdles such as navigating the complexities of the health care system, extraordinarily high local housing costs, and excessive emotional and physical stress. At the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England we remove the stress of daily living and support families to enable them to focus on what really matters: their child’s health and healing.
On August 20, 2023 Team RMHCNE will hit the pavement to race the historic 7 mile course, while raising critical funds to support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence and the Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor.
This year Team RMHCNE will work together to provide nearly 400 nights of housing, comfort and support for families of critically ill children. Together, we can reduce the stress associated with financial strain so families can focus on the health of their children.
I hope I can count on you to support my run by contributing to this very special program!
