My Story…
I will be running the famous Falmouth Road Race this August for the first time. I will be running for Habitat for Humanity which is a cause I feel passionate about because they help families obtain their first home. Housing is so incredibly expensive on the Cape these days. I don't know how young families can afford to live here.
I have gotten a tour of some of the beautiful homes Habitat has built. The families that are chosen as recipients help in the construction and are taught how to manage money and their new property. They are set up to be winners!
Description
Habitat Cape Cod partners with families in need of an affordable home to build one of their own; fostering stability, self-reliance and a strong sense of community.
Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has developed over 170 affordable homes on Cape Cod. Local families help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Homes are deed restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity. With the support of Habitat and community contributors, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
