Help Rebecca raise money

For participating in The 2023 ASICS Falmouth Road Race

My Story…

As many of you know Joey recently finished her 800 days of treatment for B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. What you may not know is that in the first few months after diagnosis a local organization gifted Joey (and our entire family) a week stay in Cape Cod at no cost to us (and included money for groceries and other special surprises for our week). Tommy's Place offered our family an 11 bedroom former inn (decked out with a game room, indoor movie theater, art room and so so much more). Joey was unfortunately too sick to enjoy her Cape Cod getaway and the Tommy's Place crew let us wait until after her treatment ended and her gtube site healed to rebook. Last week we took over Tommy's Place with heaps of friends and family that supported us along the way. We got to celebrate how far Joey has come and laugh and smile like I haven't seen in so many years.

See, the thing about Tommy's Place is you don't need to leave the house to enjoy your vacation. Many families head to Tommy's Place in some of their children's sickest moments to make memories. The woman that greeted us upon arrival shared that she had spent Thanksgiving at Tommy's Place with her son and a huge number of extended family members. They filled every in of all 11 bedrooms (and had 3 full Thanksgiving meals donated by the local community). She teared up as she told me she was so glad she did because her son died from his cancer just a few months later. When your child is too sick to go on a family vacation, Tommy's place is there to open it's doors so the people most important to you can all be in one, safe and clean, environment.

Tommy's Place is a place for rest, respite and fun. We paid NOTHING for our week in Falmouth and as a way of giving back I'm trying to raise $1500 to cover another family's trip to Tommy's Plave.
