My Story…
My name is Ross and I'm a rising junior at Boston University majoring in computer science. I'm running for Soccer Without Borders, a program that uses soccer to reach underserved youth by providing the opportunity to play on soccer team, get active, socialize and build self-esteem. I believe that it's important for kids to have the opportunity to play on a team and be outdoors, especially nowadays with the world becoming increasingly digitized and isolated. I grew up playing soccer on the Parkway United Travel Team in Boston and am very thankful for this experience since I made some great friends and learned the value of teamwork.
Soccer Without Borders gives kids from all different backgrounds in East Boston the opportunity to come together and play the sport—there are a total of 35 languages spoken across the groups of kids in the program! One thing that really stuck out to me was that the organization also gives the kids opportunities to engage in leadership roles, public speaking, and even group talks about what it means to be a good person.
I would be honored if you choose to sponsor me to run for Soccer Without Borders in the Falmouth Road Race and help support these students. I'll be training in and around Falmouth to run it as fast as I can!
