My Story…
Living with a disability like spinal cord injury is a full time job all on its own. Nobody knows what it's like the way that people living with SCI do.
Every day I see how people with spinal cord injuries re-learn their bodies and rebuild their lives after life changing injury or disease, adapt their homes, learn new skills, re-enter the work force, parent their kids, find new passions, stay healthy and manage all the health complications that SCI throws at you. The community of peer support and information resources that SCI BC offers is all about lifting that load, helping us help each other to adjust, adapt and thrive in our communities.
I was born with a spinal cord tumor, but complications from surgery as a child left me with paralysis, chronic pain and a bucket of other complications. SCI BC has been instrumental in creating much of the inclusive, supportive community I benefited from, and I want everyone with SCI and similar disabilities in BC have access to this kind of support. Join me - support my charity challenge race to support SCI BC's work all across the province.
